Mountains-to-Sea (Day One)

Our Vacation Church Camp starts (virtually) today at Clingman’s Dome in western North Carolina. As we imagine ourselves there, let’s also imagine the young Jesus visiting the Temple Mount for the Passover Feast. While we look out over Gatlinburg (or Hillsborough, if we stay local and hike Occoneechee Mountain), think about Jesus looking out over Jerusalem.

Jesus traveled and taught on mountains and by the sea and in lots of places in between. We’ll learn some of Jesus’ lessons this week and also learn about the North Carolina Mountains-to-the-Sea Trail (MST). Occoneechee Mountain is not part of the MST but it’s the closest thing we have to a mountain in Orange County. And it’s a beautiful place to hike and pray!

Our camp curriculum (which includes bible stories, art reflections, science experiments, cooking projects and outdoor activities) plus some tips for hiking with kids can be found here: https://thechapelofthecross.org/growing-as-christians/childrens-ministry-2/vacation-church-camp/
