Charles and Eloise Fiore help us explore John 15:9-17 and we remember singing This Little Light of Mine together in the Chapel.
Throwback Thursday – Rainbow
There is rain and there are rainbows. This throwback in from May 2020 and was recorded after what seemed like weeks of rain. We’ve had some thunderstorms this week, and we’ll have cloudy days again. But we’ll see rainbows, too.
Singing in the Rain
Thunderstorms came through town yesterday and since Boykin is a little scared of storms, she waited until after the lightning had stopped flashing to join Greg in the yard. It really is safer that way.
A May Carol
Carols aren’t just for Christmas. This carol celebrates the month of May and the new branches and buds that are growing “by the work of our Lord’s hand.”
Children’s Chapel – May 2
Today, the Van Niels teach us about the True Vine. How do branches of the vine grow and bloom and show God’s love?
Chapel in the Courtyard
Here’s another glimpse of Chapel in the Courtyard. Birds are singing, leaves are rustling. Households are in their hula-hoop pods. We’re planning regular outdoor services starting in June. More details to come.
Throwback Thursday – My Shepherd
A year ago, we were checking our phones a lot, trying to figure out what advice and news to follow. But after a year in a pandemic we’re even more certain of what to follow: Love. And we know who to follow: the King of Love, the Shepherd, the person who said such amazing things and did such wonderful things that people followed him …
An Intergenerational Sheepfold
On Good Shepherd Sunday, we gathered at a masked distance in hula hoop pods. We were sheep and little lambs, in a contemporary fold. We sang and we prayed. The wind blew and the birds sang. We Passed the Peace with waves and after we recessed, we climbed trees. (Thanks to Nick Jaeger for most of the photos.)
Sheep!
We were so excited to see people in person when we worshiped outdoors and masked yesterday. We celebrated Good Shepherd Sunday in the courtyard and it felt a little like being in a sheepfold. We sang “Jesus, Tender Shepherd” (of course!) but we also sang “Bah, Bah, Black Sheep” – as a round.
Children’s Chapel – Good Shepherd Sunday
The fourth Sunday of the Easter Season is called Good Shepherd Sunday because we read the Gospel passage in which Jesus calls himself “the Good Shepherd.” Today in Children’s Chapel, Silas and his mom, Sarah, help us understand what Jesus meant. If you have faith-at-home supplies, you can open the green egg. Maybe you want to make a green pasture for your sheep? Or maybe you want to draw a shepherd.
