Earth and Twinkling Stars

Today is Earth Day and we wanted to post something celebrating God’s creation. We also said we’d turn things over to the kids this week. Maybe we can do both.

We had a request (thanks, E and H!) for Jones to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle.” We got some socially-distanced video of him singing about the stars “above the world so high” (and the world is the earth, right, so that sort of fits into Earth Day) and then … wait a minute … those aren’t the words we know.

Jones learned some of those verses when he worked at Kidzu Children’s Museum.

How are you celebrating Earth Day? There’s a prayer in our Book of Common Prayer (page 814) that reads something like this (we’re clearly taking liberties today):

O God, who has filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to see all the wonderful things you’ve made. Let us find joy in your creation, and help us to care for the earth we live on, beneath your twinkling stars.

Do you have your own prayers to share? Do you have special ways to celebrate God’s creation?
